Canoes, Kayaks, Paddleboards: Pandemic on the Water

Randal Hale · June 11, 2020 ·

We’ve made it back with some limited hours and one thing has happened: We’re about out of boats.

The Pandemic has changed a lot of things. One thing you can do almost without worry is get outside. Get on the water. Go for a hike. Disappear for a bit.

So do you have a boat sitting around you’d like to consign? We have a “virtual” line of people looking for everything you can think of to get on the water. So the chances are it will come in and go out quickly. Plus it’s no hassle for you beyond getting it to the store.

What do we need?

  • PaddleBoards
  • Paddles
  • Lake Kayaks
  • Inflatable Kayaks
  • Canoes (I mean who doesn’t want a canoe)
Have you ever paddled around Williams Island?

Anyway – give us a shout. Book an appointment. If you have a boat sitting around and it has all it’s parts, pieces, and you want to give it another life – that’s what we do!

Gear Swap – April 22nd 2017

Randal Hale · March 11, 2017 ·

Join us on Earth Day 2017 for Chattanooga’s 10th Annual Gear Swap & Outdoor Expo.  This is your chance to sell your gently used gear or spread your organization’s love of the great outdoors, rent a 10’X10′ space for $20. Spaces will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Fees for exhibit booths must be pre-paid by Thursday, April 20, 2017

Vendors will provide their own tables, chairs, and exhibit tents, unless previously arranged with The Gear Closet. No electrical outlets will be available. Each vendor will be responsible for the setting up and breaking down of their area, and it would be much appreciated if there is no trash left behind afterwards!  Setup will begin at 8:30AM and no booth should be taken down until 2PM once the event is over. Vendors and Exhibitors are responsible for their own merchandise. The Gear Closet is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Parking will be available next door at the Volunteer Behavioral Health Care System lot on the Chilhowie Street side of the building. No vehicles in the exhibit area during the Expo, please. The event will happen rain or shine, however, in the unfortunate case that the weather is dangerous then it will be cancelled.
